Q: What is a special?
A special is an unlicensed medicine which is not available commercially. It can only be prescribed by a doctor or other healthcare professional. It can be prepared in a pharmacy by a RPS (Royal Pharmaceutical Society) registered pharmacist or by a licensed manufacturer like Penn. A Special can be an unusual formulation, an unusual strength, a preservative or additive free product or a discontinued previously licensed product.
